CTE reader TEST

The reader must be connected to the RS-485, NOT to the weigand.

To test and confirm the operations of the CTE and RS-485 reader, try the following steps.

CTE to MT-485 reader connection is only four wires. Power (red), Ground (black), A (pink) and B (tan) and polarity for power and A & B must be as marked on the CTE board.

1) If the MT-485 reader has no LED power on or beeps, check the power wiring from the CTE to the READER. When wired correctly CTE provides 12 VDC, and 300ma current for the reader. CTE has a  fault LED near the connector near the RS-485 reader connector it indicates power over current.
Correct reader power wiring until the reader on the wall has power, indicated with a RED LED.

2) You can always "PAIR/SYNC" the CTE and READER as a test, just push and release the CTE SCHLAGE button once, and push and release the FDR button twice.  With successful "PAIR/SYNC", the CTE status LED will blink amber three times with three reader beeps, regardless of CTE mode. The three amber blinks indicates the reader and CTE are GOOD.

3) There are RS-485 activity LEDS just above the CTE RS-485 reader connector. Both AMBER LED blink together at four times a second when connected properly with good communication. If RS-485 communication is not good, only one amber LED above the connector will blink once a second. If the RS-485 LED does not indicate good, check the RS-485 wiring, A & B, Tan and Pink, between the CTE and the wall Reader hook up as marked on the board the reader PINK wire connects to A and the reader TAN wire connects to B.

4) If you push and release the CTE SCHLAGE Button and the MT-485 READER BEEPS, you know CTE to READER COM is Good.
